High Wood currently benefits from a local bus service operated by Kirkby Lonsdale Coach Hire. The number 18 service provides an hourly connection between the development and key destinations including the City Centre and Lancaster Farms.

At present service 18 doesn’t operate on an evening or on a Sunday, however Story Homes have made a significant financial contribution to Lancaster City Council which will see the service extended in the near future, providing a greater degree of accessibility to residents at the site.

The nearest bus stop for residents to board service 18 is located on Quernmore Road, a short walk from all homes at High Wood.

For journeys further afield, service 18 terminates at the bus station in Lancaster City Centre providing onward connections to other bus services across the city. It also provides residents with the opportunity to connect to rail services operating out of Lancaster Station. Click here for further details on local train services).

For school children, Kirkby Lonsdale Coaches also operate a school run both in the morning and afternoon. Children are able to board the bus 565 on Quernmore Road which serves a number of the schools, specifically Central Lancaster High School.

An additional Service 487 operated by The Travellers Choice, also provides a local service for school children providing access to both the Boys and Girls Grammar schools and Ripley St Thomas Primary School.
