Getting on your bike is quick, healthy and low cost. Cycling is therefore a great way to get around the local area, or if you are a little fitter, to travel further afield.

To the right we have provided a range of useful links, including access to a downloadable cycle map of the Lancaster area, a useful online journey planning tool, and details of free cycle training opportunities available to both adults and children.

For a quick guide to cycle times to key local destinations see below:

  • Lancaster City Centre: 1 mile – approx. 7 minutes by bike
  • Lancaster Station: 2 miles – approx. 12 minutes by bike
  • Royal Lancaster Infirmary: 1.6 miles – approx. 9 minutes by bike
  • Lancaster University: 3.1 miles – approx. 17 minutes by bike
  • Morecambe: 6 miles – approx. 30 minutes by bike

Whilst cycling will already therefore be a practical option for many local trips, Story Homes have made a sizeable financial contribution to improve walking and cycle links between the development and Derwent Road to the west, making local journeys by bike more attractive and safe.
